‘A Man on the Inside’ Season 2 Sets Netflix Release Date

Netflix has set the premiere date for “A Man on the Inside” Season 2.

All eight episodes of the show’s second season will debut on Nov. 20. Ted Danson returns in the role of Charles Nieuwendyk, this time investigating a new mystery in a new setting. Netflix has also dropped some first-look photos from Season 2, which can be seen below.

Plot details have been kept under wraps until now, but the official synopsis for Season 2 states:

“Eager to take on another big undercover case, Charles Nieuwendyk (Danson) gets his chance when a mysterious blackmailer targets Wheeler College president Jack Berenger (Max Greenfield), who enlists Charles to go undercover as a professor. Who’s making these threats? Does it have something to do with the iconoclastic billionaire Brad Vinick (Gary Cole), a Wheeler graduate, and his proposed donation to the school? Charles finds no shortage of possible suspects, but his attention gets diverted by free-spirited music teacher Mona (Mary Steenburgen), whose zest for life awakens feelings he thought he’d buried after the passing of his wife. Is he ready to open his heart again at this stage in his life? And more importantly, has he fallen for the very criminal he’s been sent to unmask?”

“Meanwhile, his daughter Emily (Mary Elizabeth Ellis) is inspired by the changes in her father and uncovers a long-ignored passion, while PI Julie (Lilah Richcreek Estrada) embarks on her own journey of growth as she reconnects with an important figure from her past,” the synopsis continues.

The cast for Season 2 also includes Stephanie Beatriz, Michaela Conlin, Lisa Gilroy, Stephen McKinley Henderson, Madison Hu, Sam Huntington, Jason Mantzoukas, Constance Marie, Linda Park, David Strathairn, and Jill Talley.

“A Man on the Inside” Season 1 debuted in November 2024 to a glowing reception from both audiences and critics. The single-cam comedy remained in the Netflix Top 10 English TV chart for five weeks, while Danson received both Golden Globe and SAG Award nominations for his work in the series. Netflix announced the Season 2 renewal less than a month after it premiered.

The series is based on the documentary “The Mole Agent.” Mike Schur created the series and serves as an executive producer via Fremulon. Morgan Sackett is also an executive producer along with David Miner of 3 Arts Entertainment, Maite Alberdi and Marcela Santibañez of Micromundo Producciones, and Julie Goldman and Christopher Clements of Motto Pictures. Universal Television is the studio.
