Road crumbles, riddled with craters, commute a nightmare in Udyog Vihar | Gurgaon News

Gurgaon: A 150-metre stretch located in Udyog Vihar Phase 4 has been in a state of disrepair for the past two years, leaving thousands of commuters having to negotiate potholes and craters every day. The monsoon has resulted in extensive waterlogging, adding to commuters’ misery. Despite consistent complaints, civic authorities have turned a blind eye towards it, commuters have alleged. Several other lanes in the area, meanwhile, are no better. The stretch near Hatron Technology Park, which has numerous offices and corporate buildings, has turned into a nightmare for employees. Broken patches, uneven surfaces, and waterlogging after every spell of rain make it nearly impossible to use this road for regular commute. To make things worse, streetlights along the lane rarely function, forcing motorists to manoeuvre through gaping potholes in the dark.“Driving through this road every day feels like guesswork as we can’t see much ahead. The possibility of vehicle damage is not the only concern, but poor visibility at night makes the road risky for everyone,” said Monika Agarwal, who works at a private firm in the area.Commuters said Udyog Vihar houses many offices, but its infrastructure tells a very different story. “Every monsoon, waterlogging worsens the road condition, while there is no permanent solution in sight. We spend more time manoeuvring potholes than driving. Internal lanes have not been repaired, while the main Rao Gajraj Singh Marg, which was repaired just a few months ago, is already damaged again,” said Yash Goel, a software engineer at a private firm in Electronic City.MCG chief engineer Vijay Dhaka said the tender for road repair in Udyog Vihar’s Electronic City has already been allotted. “As soon as the weather becomes favourable for bituminous work, the agency will start resurfacing the road,” he added.
